Frequently asked questions
Short answers about how CarsPeoria works, what we are not, and how to get from a card on this site to a conversation with a Greater Peoria dealership. If you are new, the How it works walk-through is the longer version.
How does CarsPeoria work?
CarsPeoria is a used-car directory for Greater Peoria, Illinois. We collect public used inventory from local dealership websites and show it in one list so you can compare photo, asking price, mileage, and dealer without opening twelve tabs first.
When a card looks promising, click it. The dealer’s own listing opens in a new tab. That is the page that matters for availability, options, and talking to the store. We do not insert ourselves between you and the lot. Read the step-by-step on How it works.
Do you sell cars?
No. CarsPeoria does not sell cars, take deposits, or hold keys. We are not a dealership and we are not a broker. The listing dealership is the seller. If a card says a Civic is $16,900 at a Morton store, that number and that car belong to the store, not to us.
We also do not offer financing, extended warranties, or trade-in quotes. Those conversations happen at the lot, on their terms.
Are the prices current?
Prices are as current as the last time we collected that dealer’s public used inventory. We refresh on a regular overnight schedule (early morning Central Time) and when the site is running, but a desk manager can change a price at lunch, and a car can sell on a Saturday morning before the directory catches up.
Always confirm the asking price on the dealer’s listing before you drive over. If the numbers disagree, trust the dealer’s page — or call the store.
Which towns does CarsPeoria cover?
The directory is built around Greater Peoria: Peoria, East Peoria, Pekin, North Pekin, Morton, Washington, Dunlap, Bartonville, Creve Coeur, Eureka, Metamora, Chillicothe, Canton, Roanoke, and nearby lots that shoppers here actually visit in a single afternoon.
We are not trying to be a statewide or national search. Cars that only make sense if you will drive two hours are a poor fit for this list. More on the map we care about is on the About page.
How do I contact a dealer about a car?
Open the card. That click goes to the dealer’s listing in a new tab. Use the phone number, contact form, or “I’m interested” button on their page. They have the vehicle, the ignition key, and the current price.
Please do not email CarsPeoria to ask whether a specific truck is still on the lot or to make an offer. We cannot answer that. We can help if our link is broken — see the question below.
Why do I sometimes see the same VIN mentioned at sister lots?
Some local dealer groups share a website platform across more than one rooftop. The same physical vehicle — one VIN — can be published on two sister sites even though it only sits on one line.
On CarsPeoria we show one public card per VIN so the grid is not a stack of copies. When we can tell which store actually franchises that make, we prefer that rooftop’s card. You may still see the VIN on more than one dealer website if you go looking. If you are unsure which building has the car, call the store named on the card we show.
Do you offer financing or take trade-ins?
No. We do not run credit, quote payments, or appraise trades. If you need a loan, that is a conversation with the listing dealer’s finance office or with your own credit union in Peoria, Pekin, or Morton. Bring a pre-approval if you have one; it makes the desk conversation cleaner. Our buying guide covers that in more detail.
Can I list a private-party car?
Not yet. CarsPeoria currently shows dealer used inventory only. There is no form to list a car from a driveway in Peoria or a Facebook post in Washington. If we add private-party listings later, we will say so on this page and on About. Until then, please do not send us FSBO ads expecting them to appear in the grid.
How often is inventory updated?
Used inventory is collected from dealer sites on a nightly schedule, typically in the early morning Central Time, and the public list is what that collection produced. A lot can sell a car or add a trade during the day, so the directory is a recent snapshot, not a live wire to every desk.
The “inventory last updated” stamp in the header reflects the newest timestamp we have on the rows we are showing.
What details do you show on each listing?
Each card is a comparison snapshot: the photo the dealer published, year, make, model, trim when we have it, asking price (or “call for price” if they did not publish a number), mileage, and the dealer name and town. Click through for the rest — options, comments, a history-report link if the store provides one, and their contact path.
We do not build a full in-site vehicle page. The dealer listing is the record. If a photo is missing, that is usually because the lot did not publish one in a form we can display yet.
Why use a local directory instead of a national site?
National sites are built for a huge map. That is handy if you will ship a car. Most people shopping used in Greater Peoria want to see the vehicle, drive it, and be home for dinner. A local list keeps East Peoria next to Pekin next to Morton instead of mixing in cars from another state that happen to match the same year and miles.
Use national sites if you want the wide net. Use CarsPeoria when you want to compare the lots you can actually visit this week.
Do you show ads, and how is my privacy handled?
Yes, the public pages may show Google ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on visits to this site and others. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google’s Ads Settings or aboutads.info. The details, including what we collect when you click through to a dealer, are in our Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your personal information. Clicking a dealer card records which listing was opened (dealer and vehicle identifier, not your IP) so we can tell stores which cars people actually tap.
A listing looks wrong or a link is dead. What should I do?
If our card goes to a missing page, shows an obvious duplicate, or looks garbled, email info@carspeoria.com or use the contact page and tell us the make, VIN if you have it, and which dealer the card named. We typically reply within one or two business days.
If the car itself has a mechanical question, a title question, or a price question, that still goes to the dealership. We can fix the directory. We cannot inspect the truck.
How do I get in touch with CarsPeoria?
Email info@carspeoria.com or write through the contact page. We read every message. Site bugs, bad links, and coverage suggestions are useful. Offers on a specific vehicle are not — send those to the lot.
